It’s usually the graduates, not the audience, that gets the attention on graduation day, but things are different when Ryan Gosling is in the crowd. Gosling and girlfriend, Eva Mendez, were spotted at Brock University in St. Catharine’s Ontario, where his mom’s graduation ceremony was taking place.

According to the St. Catharines Standard, the couple sat near the back of the auditorium and were often seen whispering to each other throughout the ceremony. When the 31-year-old actor’s mother, Donna, was called to accept her diploma, Gosling lept to his feet, clapping and taking photos.

How adorable is that? Gosling kept telling reporters trying to get an interview that this was his mom’s day, and that he didn’t want to take the attention away from the graduates. However, that didn’t prevent word from spreading on Twitter about the couple’s appearance at the ceremony.
