On May 27, 2017, Disney California Adventure opened up its latest attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Guests are led on a VIP tour of the grand fortress of Taneleer Tivan (more commonly known as The Collector), which houses his spectacular collection of flora, fauna, artifacts, and more recently, The Guardians of the Galaxy. While the Guardians are the highlight of the tour, there are many items in The Collector’s fortress that guests will be excited to see. Of course, if you’d like to be surprised on your first tour, stop here to avoid spoilers. Otherwise, here are a few Easter eggs you can look forward to:
Rocket the Raccoon
Rocket makes quite a few appearances throughout the attraction, but you might spot signs of him even before entering the fortress. Look out for his paw prints in and outside of the building, and try to figure out just what trouble he’s getting himself into.
Harold
Harold was a longtime inhabitant of the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction over in Disneyland Park. When the attraction went under refurbishment in 2015, it introduced a new abominable snowman, with guests wondering where Harold went. Now you can see him once again as a resident of the fortress.
Figment
Epcot’s beloved purple dragon has apparently made his way to the West Coast, and can be seen in the main lobby area of the fortress. Or can he? There is a suspended cube that changes from purple to yellow that is said to contain Figment, but the glass is so frosted, it’s hard to get a good look at him.

Cosmo the Spacedog
Cosmo is a part of the Guardians galaxy, with a few quick appearances in the first movie. Although he is broken out in the film, he’s back behind glass for Mission: BREAKOUT!, wagging his tail and keeping the glass anything but smudge-free.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Unless you’ve been living in another galaxy, then you know that before this attraction was called Mission: BREAKOUT!, it used to be The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The changing of the attraction to accommodate the Guardians has been a topic of heated discussion throughout the Disney community, but that could be an article all on its own. However, Mission: BREAKOUT! does pay homage with a few references to the Tower of Terror. One can be found in one of The Collector’s offices, although you might need some good eyes (or at least some good lighting) to find it. Do you spot what’s hidden?
If this list isn’t long enough for you, fear not. There are apparently over 2,200 Easter eggs hidden throughout the attraction, so you’ll be kept busy each time you go on a tour of the fortress. How many Easter eggs have you found? Let me know on Twitter (@thealdywaldy)!
