Amazon Prime Air – Packages Flown to Homes in 30 Minutes or Less

This is…strange. I thought this was an April Fool’s Day joke, but I guess Amazon is really going for it. They’re planning on launching Amazon Prime Air, which essentially delivers packages to your home via an unmanned flying vehicle. Looks kinda like a super fancy helicopter. You can watch the video for a demonstration, but they say that the packages will be flown straight from the warehouse to your doorstep in 30 minutes or less.

If they can pull this off, I think this is pretty cool. What’s the difference between getting your delivery from a truck or a flying vehicle? The thing I’m concerned about is there seems to be a lot that can go wrong with this service. What if it’s a super windy or rainy day? Would Prime Air not be available on those days? Also, what if people decide to wait around for the flying vehicle, only to steal or tamper with it? Finally, I’m trying to imagine what it would be like should people really like this service, and having a bunch of flying packages everywhere. Would it be unsightly?

Only time will tell if Amazon Prime Air actually takes off. But I sure am curious!
